NAME: Belinda Collins JOB TITLE: Marketing Communications Account Director
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 10.
TODAY'S ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Either working up through the ranks from school leaver in an administrator or related role or undertaking a career related degree. .
BEST AND WORST BITS ABOUT THE JOB: Speaking with clients and understanding their problems is a big part of my role and it's part of the job I love. Once we have a good understanding of the challenge in hand, I work with ny team and creative department to scope out the ideas, research the market or product we're looking to influence and then prepare the communications plan to deliver the results for our clients.Once presented and approved by the client, we jump into execution and delivery mode and this also the element I love seeing the idea and the concept come to life and go live, whether that be on the back of a bus, on TV, on an internet site or on the radio. The bits I hate most are the figues, budgeting, forecasting and sorting out invoice queries!
WHAT I WISH I'D BEEN TOLD BEFORE I STARTED: The long hours and the stress that comes with pitch days.
HOW DO I SEE THE JOB EVOLVING? I enjoy a place on the senior management team and increasingly my job is about growing our business, seeking out development opportunities and increasing the profitability of the business.
ANY OTHER COMMENTS: You must try to find something you love and have a passion for as you've got to work at it for a good number of years to come and there is nothing worse than getting up and dread going to work. I love every day of my job - yes there are hard days and stressful days but generally I love it and it makes me smile and feel proud.
