NAME: Dave Macvicker JOB TITLE: Marine Pilot
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 20.
TODAY'S ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Master marine qualification, gained at Marine College, Southampton. Previously attended naval college. A lot of experience gained working at sea.
BEST AND WORST BITS ABOUT THE JOB: The worst part is the shift and night work.
WHAT I WISH I'D BEEN TOLD BEFORE I STARTED: Nothing
HOW DO I SEE THE JOB EVOLVING?.The job will remain basically the same with added concerns regarding liability and criminality of pilots at work.
ANY OTHER COMMENTS: Anticipate a large shortage of suitable candidates within 10 years.
